I write and design college-level business curriculum at Pearson. Before that, seven years teaching business and technology in Indiana classrooms — and the whole time, building a product company on the side.
Tyler spent seven years in Indiana classrooms — teaching Accounting, Economics, and Personal Finance, coaching tennis, and rebuilding his district's Work-Based Learning program from the ground up. That instinct for turning complicated material into something students could actually use is the same skill he now applies at Pearson, writing and designing business curriculum used in college classrooms nationwide.
Alongside both of those, he's spent the last several years running TowerShield, the company behind Cube Hog — taking it from a napkin idea through a funded Kickstarter to a real product on real shelves. He's currently working toward a doctorate in Instructional Technology.
Leads content development and tutoring for Pearson+'s college-level business courses — writing curriculum, lesson material, and practice sets, and coordinating with visual and publishing teams to bring it to print.
Taught Accounting, Advanced Accounting, Economics, Personal Finance, Work-Based Learning, Digital Design, and AP Computer Science. Rebuilt and rebranded the district's Work-Based Learning program, doubling its enrollment, and brought in $2,800+ in Indiana EARN and Tri-Creek Education Foundation grants to fund it.
Managed benefits administration and client support for a roster of companies and their employees, automating recurring data audits and reporting with Excel macros.
Managed, serviced, and monitored 1,200+ student MacBook Airs district-wide, diagnosing and repairing hardware and software issues.
Designed and built Cube Hog from the ground up: ran a Kickstarter campaign to fund production, hosted hands-on testing events to refine it with real users, negotiated and wrote the contracts with manufacturing and business partners, and secured copyright protection along the way to bring it to market.
Led staff workshops on hardware and software, and ran a weekly tech-tips newsletter for teachers.
Mentored students on business presentation skills and prepared them for district, state, and international competition.
Ran community programs including the Annual Trike Race, Cinderella's Closet, and Riley's Children's Hospital fundraising.
Coached and mentored 30+ athletes through practices, matches, and tournaments.
